Frank Schwindel has signed a contract with the Orix Buffaloes of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

Schwindel will attempt to revive his career after two seasons that were as up and down as your favorite ride at the amusement park. He burst onto the fantasy season in 2021, where he slashed .342/.389/.613 with 12 round-trippers across 56 games. 2022 wasn't as magical and hit just .229/.277/.358 before being designated for assignment by the Cubs in September.

According to Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets have agreed to a five-year, $75 million contract with right-hander Kodai Senga.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic adds that the deal has a no-trade clause and opt-out clauses. The deal, which is still pending a physical, looks like a tremendous value on the Mets side -- especially given the other contracts that we have seen free agent starting pitchers land over the past few weeks. It matches exactly what MLBTradeRumors had projected what Senga would land though -- five years and $75 million. Kudos. The 29-year-old hurler compiled a stellar 1.94 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 156/49 K/BB ratio across 144 innings last year for the Softbank Hawks of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

Andy Martino of SNY reports that the Mets have reached an agreement on a contract with Japanese right-hander Kodai Senga.

No word yet on the term of the financials of the deal, but Senga was reported to have several five or six-year offers in hand -- so it's likely that it's at least a five-year pact. The Mets have done a tremendous job in rebuilding a rotation that lost Jacob deGrom, Taijuan Walker and Chris Bassitt (likely) to free agency -- adding Justin Verlander, Jose Quintana and now Senga to replace them. This will put the club even further over the luxury tax threshold, but it's clear that owner Steve Cohen doesn't mind one bit.
